January 2021

Given that January is Sanctity of Human Life Month, I want to share an excerpt from a timely email sent by Ron Panzer, friend of HALO and former President of Hospice Patients Alliance.
They tell us that killing the baby just born is a moral thing to do. They celebrate it and danced when it was legalized in some states. They are moving to legalize assisted "suicide" [throughout the United States] which is simply direct medical killing in many cases. They are moving to legalize euthanasia eventually as has been done in Canada.

In Canada, hospices that now refuse to perform euthanasia are defunded, no longer able to be reimbursed for hospice services. They are "deplatformed" in a sense, just like Parler or any person or business that doesn't go along with the socialist, reprehensible lethal agenda.

Those who think politics has no part in pro-life work should think again!  When you are harmed, shut down, put out of business, financially destroyed because of your pro-life beliefs, or pro-America beliefs, you will see that politics affects pro-life work, though pro-life advocacy is not in itself part of any political Party and is not inspired by politics but by our faith in God and reverence for the life He creates.
Ron's words are incredibly powerful and remind us that, even though we live in a turbulent world, God is still in charge. While it’s hard not to feel frightened, we must not allow ourselves to be intimidated by the threats of censorship, the cancel culture, and extreme media bias. We must continue to use our voices to defend the rights and lives of those who cannot speak for themselves no matter how difficult our path forward becomes. After all, if we don’t speak up for the voiceless now, there might not be anyone to speak for us when we need advocates.

I am reminded of this poignant poem posted in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

When I am called from this world, I want to hear the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant,” and not “Why did you not speak up for the most vulnerable among you?”

Do you make the same New Year’s Resolutions every year and frequently fail to stick with them? Maybe you want to shake things up for 2021! How about assisting HALO in defending the medically vulnerable?  With January being Sanctity of Human Life Month, It's a great time to implement some life-saving or life-altering changes. As we have previously reported, Baby Tinslee’s fight for life started in November 2019 when a Texas hospital moved to end her life against her mother’s wishes under the deadly Texas 10-Day Rule*. Since then, a fierce court battle has been waged, with Baby Tinslee’s mother on one side and Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas on the other. Read more.
